Arts and Crafts Cottages Greeting Cards

by Richard Sheaff

Though greeting cards of the 1920s and 1930s are often erroneously labeled “Deco”, most in reality display Arts and Crafts designs. Many are quite elegantly done. I recently posted a little exhibit of those featuring Christmas ships. There are several other categories often seen . . . stagecoaches, carolers, airplanes, cars and trucks, silhouettes, comic, ethnic, Dickensian Revival and others. I hope to post some of these another time.

Below are some examples of another category of the period, idealized small cottages, usually with an exaggeratedly pointy roof. I find them charming.
