Mark E. Sackett is the owner and operator of The Box SF, a store in San Francisco that sells a unique collection of printed ephemera. These items range from boxes to cigarette ads; from labels of whiskey bottles to ear tags for goats.
The building at 1069 Howard Street used to be a large printing factory when San Francisco was the center of the printing industry. Today, it has been restored to replicate a 19th century general store and preserve the atmosphere of the old printing days.
The San Francisco Chronicle visited The Box SF and featured an article with Sackett, delving into the world of ephemera and learning about the historical significance collecting such material. The article can be found here.
